Is XRP Still the Weirdest Trade in Crypto? XRP Price Acts as a Shelter While Others Sink

XRP price (XRP-USD) is defying the usual rules of the crypto market this week. While heavyweights like Bitcoin (BTC-USD) and Ethereum (ETH-USD) have been getting hit by a massive sell-off that wiped out a huge chunk of their value in seven days, XRP is doing something unusual: it’s actually leading the recovery. After dropping earlier this month, XRP has surged around 6% in the last 5 days. This move makes it one of the weirdest trades right now because it’s showing massive strength while the rest of the market is still stuck in fear.

Behind the Scenes, Ripple Is Growing Its Utility

The reason for this weird strength is that Ripple has been aggressively beefing up its technology, recently adding new staking and security tools that allow banks to offer Ethereum and Solana (SOL-USD) staking to their clients. This institutional push is making XRP look like a utility play rather than just a speculative coin. Even as the broader market falls apart, investors are seeing the XRP Ledger as a stable piece of financial “plumbing” that keeps getting more features regardless of the price.

ETF Inflows Stabilize XRP’s Price Bottom

Another reason XRP price action is acting so differently is the steady stream of money coming from institutional funds. Even during the worst of the market carnage, XRP ETFs in the U.S. managed to pull in $3.26 million in a single day this week. Analysts like Zach Rector are even suggesting that XRP could double if a giant like BlackRock ($BLK) decides to file for its own ETF. This smart money is creating a floor that other tokens just don’t have, helping XRP bounce faster and harder when the bleeding finally stops.

XRP’s Technical Signals Suggest a Breakout

The recent price action has pushed XRP’s Relative Strength Index (RSI) out of the oversold territory, signaling that buyers are finally winning the battle against sellers. While Bitcoin is fighting to hold the $68,000 level, XRP is already testing its near-term resistance at $1.45. If it can close above $1.55, many traders believe the token will start a real rally toward the $2.00 mark. The fact that it’s outperforming Solana and BNB during this recovery is a major signal that the “weirdness” of XRP might just be its secret weapon.

At the time of writing, XRP is sitting at $1.3669.
