XRP Price Craters as Plunging Liquidity Wipes Out Ripple’s XRP Network Upgrade Catalyst

The price of XRP (XRP-USD) is showing severe structural weakness against Bitcoin (BTC-USD) today, leaving the token trapped in a painful downward trend. XRP prices dropped 2% over the last 24 hours to trade around $1.32, heavily underperforming the broader crypto market. Investors are aggressively rotating capital into Bitcoin, completely overshadowing a major software upgrade on the XRP network and a prestigious workplace award for Ripple.

Low Binance Liquidity Threatens XRP Prices

The main reason for the relative drop in the token’s value comes down to a historic dry-up in trading activity. Binance’s XRP liquidity index just plummeted to its lowest level since January 2020. Because big institutional buyers are choosing Bitcoin over alternative tokens, XRP prices have failed to cross a key 20-month moving average.

This severe lack of buyer support has left XRP trading prices stuck in a dangerous zone. While blockchain data provider Santiment noted that large investors pulled 35 million XRP off exchanges into private wallets, which usually signals long-term holding, the short-term XRP price chart remains highly fragile. Market experts warn that if XRP fails to defend its current floor, a daily close below $1.30 could trigger a fast crash straight down to $1.17.

New XRP Upgrade Cuts Clutter but Risks Blocking Old Nodes

While XRP trading prices suffer, the underlying XRP network is pushing forward with a major technical overhaul. The XRP network successfully activated the new fixCleanup3_1_3 amendment on Wednesday after receiving unanimous validator support. This mandatory backend update automatically deletes expired NFT offers, fixes vault withdrawal bugs, and improves overall loan accounting accuracy on the XRP Ledger.

This XRP network upgrade aims to drastically reduce ledger clutter and increase processing speeds for corporate developers. However, the change brings immediate operational risks for businesses using the blockchain. Any crypto exchange, NFT platform, or node operator that fails to update their software systems immediately will become blocked and completely disconnected from the XRP network.

Ripple Wins Top Workplace Award

Away from the brutal trading charts, Ripple continues to build a strong corporate reputation. Fortune Magazine officially named Ripple one of the Best Workplaces in the Bay Area for 2026. Internal survey data revealed that 95% of employees describe the company as an excellent workplace. While this corporate milestone highlights Ripple’s growth as a mature financial infrastructure provider, regular traders remain entirely focused on whether XRP trading prices can survive this current market test.

At the time of writing, XRP’s price is sitting at $1.3258.
