XRP Gains New Catalyst as Ripple Buys Stake of Africa’s Largest Payments Company. Trader Says, ‘This Is Not Hype’

Ripple recently bought a stake in Flutterwave to speed up money moves across Africa using new digital tools. A trader on X named Dark Defender shared exactly why this deal matters. He posted, “While everyone watches the XRP (XRP-USD) price chart, #Ripple just made its biggest move of 2026: Invested in Flutterwave yesterday — Africa’s largest payments company ($3.2B) RLUSD + XRP Ledger going straight into African payment rails. This is not hype. This is the use case. Real corridors, real volume.”

Ripple Adds Digital tools

Ripple recently joined the Series E funding round for Flutterwave to make this vision happen. This African company is valued at $3.2 billion, according to Bloomberg. This deal places Ripple’s new dollar-backed digital coin, named RLUSD, right into current money networks. The two firms also use the XRP Ledger to clear daily transfers much faster than older setups. Because of this change, businesses in Africa will soon get exact pricing and instant cash settlements.

Flutterwave Replaces Slow Banking

Those instant settlements solve a huge problem, since moving money across African borders often brings high fees and long waits. Normal banks struggle to handle modern online sales well. Flutterwave plans to fix these long delays with this new tech upgrade. The company will connect local cards, phone wallets, and bank transfers directly to modern tech tools. As a result, users will skip slow bank lines and send money across borders in just seconds.

Fixing these delays builds on the strong base Flutterwave already set up. The firm has handled over one billion transfers worth more than $50 billion since starting in 2016. Chief Executive Officer Olugbenga Agboola thinks this investment marks a big turning point for the continent. He stated that building a fast digital road will link African sales straight to the global economy. As people ask for faster global transfers, these modern networks will likely become the standard way to do business worldwide.

What Does This Deal Mean for XRP’s Price?

Many investors are wondering how this new deal will impact the price of XRP. Market experts believe the partnership creates a powerful real-world use that can lift the coin’s value over time. As the XRP Ledger handles a vast amount of cash transfers across Africa, the rise in users on the network will require more people to hold the XRP token to cover basic transfer fees. This steady increase in daily demand could naturally lift the XRP token price higher. Experts view this practical utility as a far stronger long-term driver than simple social media excitement.

At the time of writing, XRP’s price is sitting at $1.1915.
