Bitmine Immersion Technologies stock ($BMNR) fell over 3% in early trading today despite buying more Ethereum (ETH-USD) last week. The company expanded its treasury as crypto prices dipped slightly on Monday. Meanwhile, Chairman Tom Lee highlighted the brand new Robinhood Chain. He noted that this “crypto success” story is growing incredibly fast.
Specifically, the firm increased its total Ethereum holdings to 5.77 million tokens. This large stash equals about 4.8% of the total Ethereum supply. Currently, ETH is trading at $1,772 after a small price drop.
Tom Lee Highlights Ethereum’s Network Growth
Tom Lee explained his reasons for buying more Ethereum tokens. He pointed to rising activity on the Ethereum network’s smaller helper chains. In his view, these extra networks are the main driver for growth. This ongoing trend shows why Bitmine keeps buying more and more ETH coins. For example, helper chains help process transaction volumes at a lower price, allowing the main Ethereum blockchain to remain completely secure.
Furthermore, Lee praised the launch of the new Robinhood ($HOOD) Chain on July 1. He stated it was one of the biggest success stories this year. Already, the new Robinhood network passed $1 billion in volume, beating other decentralized platforms. This growth demonstrates the utility and product market fit for Ethereum. Thus, the company expects more users to join the network soon.
Bitmine Is Staking its Ethereum
Separately, Bitmine has put most of its ETH coins to work. The company has staked nearly five million of its total Ethereum tokens. Staking allows the business to earn regular rewards on its digital assets. This steady income stream helps Bitmine stay strong during crypto market drops. This system protects the firm’s balance sheet while earning passive returns.
In addition to Ethereum, the company holds many other valuable assets. Its current balance sheet features 206 Bitcoin to protect its wealth. The company also owns a $180 million stake in Beast Industries. Additionally, it holds $69 million in Eightco Holdings ($ORBS) and $482 million in cash. Marketable securities are also included in that large final cash buffer amount. Therefore, Bitmine has a decent amount of resources to survive market downturns.
At the time of writing, Ethereum’s price is sitting at $1,771.60.
