‘Bitcoin Is Anti-Gold,’ Urges Top Stockbroker Peter Schiff. Should You Sell Bitcoin and Strategy Stock?

So, should you sell your Bitcoin (BTC-USD) and Strategy stock ($MSTR)? Renowned stockbroker Peter Schiff says yes, arguing that “Bitcoin is anti-gold. The more gold goes up, the more Bitcoin will go down.” He believes investors are abandoning crypto to buy gold as the metal surges past $4,402 an ounce.

However, many market experts disagree. While Schiff sees a dying asset, major crypto leaders see a temporary mismatch. They point out that Strategy holds billions in cash to cushion its business, while crypto networks continue to gain real-world use across the globe.

Why Schiff Says it Is Time to Exit BTC

Schiff bases his sell warning on recent market moves. Gold hit record highs near $4,402 after weak U.S. employment data signaled potential interest rate cuts. Silver also jumped to a multi-week high near $66. Yet, Bitcoin stayed flat around $65,254, failing to gain from the same news.

Schiff also points to Strategy selling 1,690 Bitcoin last week for $108.6 million. Since the company sold at an average price of $64,262, below its $75,385 buying average, Schiff warns that the company faces growing pressure and cash issues.

Why Other Experts Say to Hold BTC

Crypto leaders offer a very different take, arguing that digital assets provide practical utility far beyond physical metals. While Strategy sold some Bitcoin, it also raised $653 million by selling company shares, bringing its total cash reserve to $4.65 billion. Analysts say this large cash cushion protects the company from forced sales during price drops.

At the same time, Coinbase ($COIN) CEO Brian Armstrong publicly defended the market, arguing that “crypto doesn’t get enough credit for the financial access it’s already unlocked for the world.”

At the time of writing, Bitcoin’s price is sitting at $64,170.
