This unique situation creates a new challenge for online brokers, how to retain investors and give them the confidence they need to get through the Covid19 crisis.
At times like these, when there are so many moving parts which creates confusion for the average investors, we have seen strong demand for 2 of our unique tools both on TipRanks.com and from some of our global clients.
Analyst Opinions – 15 (out of 65) online brokers who use our API have reported back saying they see excessive usage to the TipRanks comprehensive analyst research tool. Usage shows that the average investors have been spending more time reading the reasoning behind every analyst rating and are more sensitive to the ranking and past performance of the analysts, while in regular times users focus mostly on the 12 month price target and consensus.

Corporate Insiders – who knows best how a company will perform during a global crisis? The company management. While we found at TipRanks that following Insiders transactions (reported to the SEC) generates very high return, Our corporate Insiders tracking was never one of our most popular datasets. This all changed in the last few weeks where we suddenly saw more investors than usual checking the insiders activity tab daily. The activity of insiders have been getting a lot of news coverage which might have started the rush for this dataset, which is offered by 24 (out of 65) online brokers using TipRanks to empower their research offering.

We also identified our Crowd wisdom analysis as a winner over the last month in terms of usage and TOT (time on tool). but have not received sufficient evidence from the online brokers who integrated this.
