Google making progress on AI reasoning models, Bloomberg reports

Google (GOOGL) teams in recent months have made progress on AI reasoning models, similar to OpenAI’s o1, Bloomberg’s Julia Love and Rachel Metz report, citing people with knowledge of the matter. Since OpenAI unveiled its o1 model, known internally as Strawberry, in mid-September, some in DeepMind have been concerned that the company had fallen behind, a source says, adding that employees are “no longer as concerned” now that Google has debuted some of its own work. Investors in OpenAI include Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia (NVDA), and SoftBank (SFTBY).
