Harness – Weekly Recap

Harness, an AI-driven software delivery platform, featured prominently in the news this week as it continued to scale on the back of its recent $240 million Series E round and $5.5 billion valuation. This weekly recap highlights key leadership moves, product innovations, and strategic partnerships that underscore the company’s push toward larger enterprise adoption and potential public-market readiness.

Harness appointed experienced finance executive Bill Koefoed as Chief Financial Officer, bolstering its capital markets and strategic finance capabilities. Koefoed brings extensive IPO and growth-stage credentials, having helped lead OneStream Software through rapid ARR expansion, a 2024 initial public offering, and a subsequent multibillion-dollar sale.

His background also includes CFO roles at Blue Nile, BCG Digital Ventures, and Puppet Inc., alongside senior finance and investor relations posts at Microsoft. In addition, he serves on the boards and audit committees of Bank OZK and Entrata, adding governance and M&A depth as Harness prepares for its next growth phase.

On the product front, Harness advanced its AI DevOps strategy with the launch of a native Cursor integration plugin, embedding its platform directly into the AI coding workspace. The plugin allows developers to trigger CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and governance workflows via natural language, aiming to close gaps between fast AI code generation and slower testing and release processes.

The Cursor integration uses a Harness-hosted Model Context Protocol server tied to existing role-based access controls, OAuth authentication, and audit trails. It offers capabilities spanning pipeline orchestration, automated environment promotions with policy enforcement, real-time security and compliance queries, feature flags, and cloud cost insights.

CEO Jyoti Bansal framed the initiative as a way to resolve the “AI Velocity Paradox,” where rapid AI-assisted coding exposes downstream manual bottlenecks and risk. For joint customers, the Cursor plugin is available at no additional cost via the Cursor Marketplace, providing an accessible path to operationalize AI within governed software delivery workflows.

Harness also deepened its collaboration with Google Cloud and was recognized as Google Cloud’s 2026 Technology Partner of the Year in the Application Development – DevOps category. The company is integrating Google Cloud’s Developer Connect into its Software Delivery Knowledge Graph to give joint customers an AI-ready, end-to-end view of the software delivery lifecycle.

By ingesting deployment logs, runtime telemetry, and application dependency data from Google Cloud, Harness aims to enhance incident diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and ownership mapping in complex environments. These integrations are designed with enterprise-grade access controls to align with the security and governance requirements of large organizations.

Further, Harness is expanding its presence within Google’s AI ecosystem by making its capabilities available through Google Cloud Marketplace and exposing its MCP Server inside the Gemini Enterprise app environment. Early adoption of Google’s Agent2Agent protocol positions Harness within an emerging agentic AI framework for coordinated development and release workflows.

Collectively, the leadership appointment, Cursor plugin launch, and expanded Google Cloud partnerships suggest a deliberate strategy to embed Harness at the center of AI-driven software delivery. These moves strengthen its operational, technological, and go-to-market posture, setting a constructive foundation for future growth and potential public-market entry.
